Editorial comment

A larger share without page growth

The WSL 2 guide accounted for a larger share of recorded sessions in March than at any other point in the 12-month record. Its Google Analytics session count, however, was unchanged from February. The larger share does not mean the page grew. The same number of sessions simply made up more of a smaller total.

What changed was where those sessions came from. Google Analytics attributed fewer sessions to Organic Search. Sessions associated with Yandex and Direct made up the difference. Direct is the Analytics category for visits whose original source is not always available. The page total hides those opposing movements.

I do not treat the site-wide change in Direct as a positive signal on its own. When country and channel are viewed together, the largest movement in the opposite direction came from Direct sessions associated with China. Those sessions were spread across several pages and recorded very few page views per session. The evidence does not show whether that traffic came from bots or real readers.

The daily Google Analytics data has no row for 23 March. I therefore cannot treat the month-on-month difference as a definitive decline or a lasting trend.

There is no Google Search Console data for this period. Empty search fields do not mean there was no search activity. A change in Google Analytics traffic sources cannot tell me whether search visibility, rankings or queries changed. The March record does not justify a content or SEO intervention at this stage.
