Editorial comment

The measurement warning faded, but traffic remained low

The measurement warning first seen in November had largely faded by January. Sessions whose source could not be identified, the Unassigned channel and the Singapore–Unassigned combination all fell sharply from the previous two months. Sessions in the other channels declined as well. The known measurement issue therefore does not explain January's low result.

In Google Analytics, total sessions, active users and page views were all at the lowest point in the available 12-month record, which begins in February 2025. Organic Search was also at its lowest point. Direct improved from December but remained the second-lowest month in the same period.

The decline in Organic Search was spread across many landing-page paths. More paths fell than rose, and the largest declines did not account for most of the loss. The January data therefore does not support an intervention focused on one article.

Google Analytics has no daily row for 1 January. I cannot tell whether that represents a genuine zero or a gap in measurement. I therefore do not treat the December-to-January difference as the exact size of the decline or as evidence of a lasting trend.

January's dated content inventory contains no entries. The records do not provide verified evidence of when those language versions first went live, so this is not proof that nothing was published or that publishing activity caused the traffic result.

There is no Google Search Console data for this period. I cannot interpret the movement in Google Analytics Organic Search sessions as a change in search visibility, rankings, click-through rate or queries. January's record shows only that the known measurement warning cannot account for the low level. It does not explain why traffic was low.
