Organic Search kept falling despite a flat total

Total Google Analytics sessions changed little in September, but the six-month channel history moved in a clear direction. Google Analytics Organic Search sessions fell every month from April onward. They dropped from 268 to 223 in September, while Google Analytics Direct sessions rose from 45 to 77. The increase in Direct traffic hid most of the organic decline in the total.

Google Analytics has no daily entry for 27 September. I cannot tell whether that means zero traffic or a measurement gap. I therefore do not treat the monthly total as evidence that traffic had stabilised or begun to recover.

The decline was not driven by one article. The WSL 2 guide made the largest single contribution, but the drop in Organic Search was spread across 36 landing pages. An increase for the CI/CD guide offset part of the loss.

Because Google Search Console data is not available for dates before June 2026, I cannot separate changes in search visibility, rankings or clicks for this period. The September record does not support an immediate content change. The more useful decision is to keep tracking Google Analytics Organic Search and Direct separately.
